SAP Effect 2020 Online Event

An online media streaming platform developed for SAP’s flagship event, Effect 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event transitioned from an in-person conference to a fully digital experience, requiring a seamless, engaging platform for content delivery.

About The Project

SAP Effect 2020 was originally planned as a large-scale, in-person event, but when COVID-19 lockdowns made that impossible, SAP pivoted to an online-first experience. To achieve this, we designed and developed a custom media streaming platform that would serve as the central hub for the event.

The platform functioned similarly to a Netflix-style content portal, allowing registered users to browse and stream video content as it became available. The site featured a countdown timer on the landing page, ensuring anticipation before the event launch. Once live, users could access on-demand videos, with new content released weekly over a three-week period to maintain engagement.

In addition to content streaming, the platform also included:

  • A registration system for attendees to sign up and access exclusive content.
  • A competition system that encouraged engagement and participation.
  • Custom analytics and tracking, providing valuable insights into viewer behavior and content performance.

My role focused on full front-end development, ensuring a clean, intuitive user experience that worked seamlessly across devices. Meanwhile, the backend infrastructure was developed to support high traffic loads, provide secure authentication, and manage the scheduled release of new content.
